Gemsbok National Park

The Kalahari Gemsbok National Park in South Africa continues in Botswana as the Gemsbok National Park. The two parks are separated by the dry bed of the Nossob River. The park covers an area of 9,000 square kilometers of the Kalahari Desert. Visitors enter the park at Twee Rivieren for a chance to view animals such as the lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah, springbok, gemsbok, wildebeest, brown and spotted hyena, and eland and other antelopes. However, no accommodation or other facilities are provided in the park. There are also no camping sites. Although the park is open throughout the year, visitors need to be in possession of a permit. Moreover, they need to carry all necessary water, food, petrol and camping equipment. In addition, visitors need to take precautions against malaria, and protect themselves against dangerous animals at camping sites.
